Lab Portal
*If you are a frequent visitor to the labs and use the same websites for your classes each year, you may think about setting them up on our KDDC Lab Portal.
KDDC Lab Portal
Just email Mrs. Nagel your links and we will have them linked for you in your own teacher folder (by grade level on the portal). Your students can them just find your name, and your links will be there for them to use at school and at home.
Lab Procedures:
*Students need to only use paper, pencils, calculators, and any other needed books in the lab - NO BACKPACKS are allowed in the labs
*Please do not use textbooks unless absolutely necessary - these have a tendency to get thrown up onto tables and onto keyboards - we do have great ON LINE resources and online textbooks that would be much better! :-)
*Of course, NO FOOD, DRINKS, GUM or CANDY in the labs please
*Teachers must ALWAYS supervise their students in the lab - no students are allowed in the LABS without their teacher or a KDDC teacher's assistant
*If you are out for any reason on a day that you have the lab booked, please make alternate plans for your substitute - please do not plan for your substitute teacher to take your classes to the labs
For a complete list of rules for the labs, please click here - these are also posted in each lab
SMART Sync
*This software allows teachers to monitor student computers, send websites, launch applications, gather completed projects, and much more. Please see Mrs. Nagel or one of the grade level teachers for more help with SMART Sync.
*SMART Sync is loaded in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade labs as well as on our Net books and in the Media Center.
*SMART Sync allows students to save documents to their own computers, and then SUBMIT the file to the Teacher station located in each lab. Teachers can gather all the documents created by their students from one computer.
*The software also allows teachers the options to:
-Monitor all computers at once from one station
-Lock student computers to gain attention
-Send websites to all student stations at once
-Send direction files, media, or videos to student stations
-Make announcements, send and answer questions from students
-Allow students to chat within groups and collaborate on projects

Would it be possible to (at least for next school year) to have DROPBOX and GOOGLE CHROME BROWSER installed on the computers...

That is a great idea I love dropbox - if we do that would you mind sharing with the teachers how they might use it as well to share their files - are you thinking of dropbox on the student computers too? Google Chrome was already on the slate - I am tired of Explorer too

I would like to see if dropbox could be used on a computer without its administrator privileges being exposed to the students though...that is what I don't know just quite yet about how it works...if it is a simple upload that the students could use a code without having access to what I am able to control would be best..but I don't know if it works like that.
